Turkey exit the 2026 World Cup after a 1-0 loss to Paraguay
Turkey's final match against host United States is now meaningless, as it trails Australia and Paraguay on head-to-head in Group D.
Turkey are officially out of the 2026 World Cup group stage after back-to-back defeats in Group D, most recently a 1-0 loss to Paraguay. Earlier, Turkey also fell 2-0 to Australia. The results make Turkey the second team confirmed to be eliminated, after Haiti in Group C. Although one match remains against host United States, a win would not change their fate. Turkey will still finish last because it loses head-to-head to both Australia and Paraguay if the teams end level on points. Turkey reached the finals after finishing second in Group E of European qualifying with 13 points, behind Spain, then advanced through the playoffs by eliminating Romania and Kosovo.
