TSMC June revenue jumped 68% as AI chip demand stayed tight

What's next: The chipmaker reports quarterly earnings Thursday after second-quarter sales reached NT$1.27 trillion.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. posted a 67.9% year-over-year jump in June revenue to NT$442.68 billion, extending strong growth ahead of its second-quarter earnings later this week. Revenue for the three months ended June reached NT$1.27 trillion, or about $39.6 billion, while first-half revenue rose 35.6% from a year earlier to NT$2.4 trillion. The gains point to continued heavy spending on AI hardware, with TSMC benefiting from demand from customers including Nvidia, Apple and Advanced Micro Devices. The company is due to report full second-quarter results on Thursday, after its shares rose 1% Monday.
