Katie Zacharia is leaving as White House press secretary less than a week after taking the job, capping one of the shortest tenures in the role. NPR reported a White House official said Zacharia was "transitioning out" by Friday after starting Monday. President Donald Trump told reporters he had urged her to reconsider staying, saying the job had become tougher than expected. Her only briefing, on Tuesday, drew criticism for its halting delivery and limited questions. Scrutiny then intensified over her legal credentials after Trump described her as an attorney and reporters pressed her on where she had passed the bar. Zacharia, a Pepperdine law school graduate and former adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, later defended her record.
