President Donald Trump granted a full pardon to former Indiana Rep. Stephen Buyer, erasing the penalty for a 2023 federal insider trading conviction tied to stock trades he made after leaving Congress. Buyer, a Republican who served in the House from 1993 to 2011, was sentenced to 22 months in prison, ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 and fined $10,000. He was released in 2025 after serving nearly two years. Prosecutors won convictions over trades linked to Sprint's planned merger with T-Mobile and Guidehouse's acquisition of Navigant. The Supreme Court declined to hear Buyer's appeal in May. The White House cited his Army and congressional service in the pardon.
