Trump name removed from Kennedy Center facade
A federal appeals court let the removal continue after rejecting a 12-hour delay request over thunderstorm concerns.
The name Donald Trump began being removed from the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on Saturday (13/6) local time after two levels of courts allowed a federal judge's order to remain in effect. Kennedy Center executive director Matt Floca said in court filings that all physical signs bearing Trump's name on the building and its grounds had been taken down. Earlier, Judge Christopher Cooper ordered the removal by June 12, saying the renaming of the arts center was unlawful; he said only Congress has the authority to change the name of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A request by the governing board and the Department of Justice for a 12-hour delay, citing thunderstorms that could endanger workers, was denied.
