Trump ends US-Iran ceasefire as Oman hosts Hormuz talks

What's next: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reached Oman as mediators seek a call with the U.S., Qatar and Pakistan.

President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire between the United States and Iran over, even as both sides agreed to keep talking and mediators worked to prevent a wider Gulf conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman on July 11 for discussions tied to safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, where attacks on commercial shipping this week triggered U.S. strikes on Iranian sites and retaliatory Iranian attacks on U.S. military positions in Gulf states. No new attacks were reported on July 10 or early July 11. Qatari mediators were also in Tehran, and a senior Iranian source said a call involving Iran, the U.S., Qatar and Pakistan was being arranged.
