Trump: U.S. will not attack Iran before Nov. 3 vote
New: Trump says talks with Tehran are still under way as the U.S. blockade on Iran remains fully in place.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington will not attack Iran before the Nov. 3 midterm election. He wrote the statement on Truth Social on Thursday, amid U.S. media reports that the White House had discussed options to continue the war against Tehran. Trump said talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran are still under way and described the process as productive. At the same time, he said the U.S. blockade remains fully in force. Trump also claimed 22 million barrels of oil crossed the Strait of Hormuz overnight. But the Financial Times reported that oil flows through the route instead fell sharply, from an average of 15 million barrels per day in late September to about 4 million barrels on Tuesday.
