TNI AL prepares Sniper Battalion to bolster Korps Marinir
The plan was discussed alongside added weapons systems and Brigif Marinir units in island regions, but details remain under review.
TNI AL discussed a plan to form a Sniper Battalion to strengthen the combat capability of Korps Marinir in an internal meeting by video conference on Monday, October 12. Chief of Naval Staff Laksamana TNI Muhammad Ali and Commander of Korps Marinir Mayor General TNI Mar Endi Supardi also discussed the need to add major weapons systems. Endi joined the meeting from Mako Pusat Latihan Pertempuran 4 Marinir Purboyo, Malang Selatan. In addition to the sniper unit, the discussion covered organizational validation through the addition of Brigade Infanteri Marinir in several Indonesian island regions to strengthen the defense posture. Korps Marinir has not yet detailed the battalion formation process, deployment locations, or the number and types of weapons systems to be added.
