Tito signs joint decree on 3 million homes, 400,000 home repairs

The MBR income cap expands to four zones, and Jakarta will handle 10,000 homes this year, up from 158 units last year.

Menteri Dalam Negeri Muhammad Tito Karnavian and Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait signed a joint decree to speed up the 3 Million Homes Development Program. At the same time, the government set a target for the self-help housing assistance program, or home repairs, to reach 400,000 units in 2026. Tito said the rule gives local governments a legal basis to support housing for low-income communities, including through exemptions from BPHTB and building permit fees. The government also expanded the MBR criteria from two to four zones. In Jakarta, the MBR income limit is set at Rp12 juta for unmarried residents and Rp14 juta for those who are married. During a review of aid recipients in Matraman, East Jakarta, Tito said DKI should also allocate APBD funding because BPS still records about 824,000 unfit homes in Jakarta.
