Tito Reviews BSPS Home Renovation Program in Gorontalo
The government links fixing uninhabitable homes to lower poverty and is also preparing land certificates for aid recipients.
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian reviewed implementation of the Bantuan Stimulan Perumahan Swadaya (BSPS) program, or home renovation program, in Pone village, Limboto Barat district, Gorontalo regency, on Tuesday (23/6). During the visit, Tito said the program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto is one way to help low-income residents obtain decent housing. He also linked home repairs to efforts to reduce poverty, noting that the number of uninhabitable homes in Gorontalo remains high and is correlated with poor households. In addition to building homes, the government is also preparing land certification to strengthen legal certainty of ownership for beneficiaries. Tito also spoke with aid recipients and said the changes in their homes had made them more livable.
