Tito sets next week deadline for Sumatera disaster aid
Officials have allocated Rp10,64 triliun in TKD, while a Rp25 miliar grant from Labuhanbatu to Gayo Lues remains stalled.
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian gave local governments that provide and receive interregional grants until next week to complete the disbursement of aid for post-disaster recovery in Sumatera. He said the emergency response phase has ended and the effort has now shifted to rehabilitation and permanent reconstruction. The central government has already disbursed an additional Rp10,64 triliun in Transfer ke Daerah funds for Aceh, Sumatera Utara and Sumatera Barat. He said the money should be used immediately to repair roads, bridges and damaged infrastructure, while areas not directly affected can use it for disaster mitigation. The PRR task force said almost all grants have reached recipients' accounts, except for a Rp25 miliar grant from Kabupaten Labuhanbatu to Kabupaten Gayo Lues, which is still held up by incomplete proposal paperwork.
