Telkom University raises bullying suspects to 4 students
Sanctions are divided by role, ranging from expulsion and a two-semester suspension to counseling and social work.
Telkom University increased the number of students designated as perpetrators in a bullying case at the male dormitory from three to four, with one other student identified as the victim. Rector Suyanto said all those involved were first-year students in the 2026 class. The case surfaced after a viral video showed a burst of flame from a gas spray and lighter aimed at the victim and at a bedsheet. Following an internal review with the PPKPT task force, the university imposed different sanctions according to each student's level of involvement: one student was permanently dismissed, one was suspended for two semesters and required to undergo character development, and two others were ordered to take character development, community service for one semester, and additional student activity duties.
