Taylor Swift becomes youngest woman in Songwriters Hall of Fame
What's new: At 36, Swift was honored in New York after a speech crediting her family's move to Nashville for launching her career.
Taylor Swift became the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York on Thursday, adding another milestone to one of pop music's biggest careers. Swift, 36, gave an emotional 21-minute speech and thanked her parents and brother for moving the family from Pennsylvania to Nashville when she was 14 so she could pursue songwriting. Steven Spielberg introduced her, and Swift said writing songs was the one part of her career that came naturally. Other 2026 inductees included Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. Founded in 1969, the Hall of Fame has inducted fewer than 500 people.
