Tata Electronics breach exposed 200,000 files tied to Apple, Tesla

What's new: Researchers said the dark-web dump totals more than 630 gigabytes and includes emails, event logs and employee passport copies.

Tata Electronics is investigating a cyber breach after researchers found a World Leaks post carrying what appeared to be internal company data linked to Apple and Tesla projects. The Indian manufacturer said it detected the incident weeks ago, activated its response procedures and kept operations running. Researchers who reviewed the dark-web posting told Reuters the dump contains more than 200,000 files totaling over 630 gigabytes, including purported Apple component records, material-specification documents, emails, multiyear event logs and passport copies for employees, including foreign nationals. Apple is conducting its own review, and a person familiar with the matter said Tata received a ransom demand.
