Switzerland beat Canada 2-1 to win Group B at World Cup
What's next: Canada now travel to Los Angeles for a last-32 match against South Africa instead of staying in Vancouver.
Switzerland beat co-host Canada 2-1 at BC Place on Wednesday to finish first in Group B and keep Vancouver as their base for the opening knockout round. Ruben Vargas and Johan Manzambi scored in a 12-minute burst early in the second half for the Swiss, while Promise David struck for Canada after coming off the bench. The loss dropped Jesse Marsch's team to second place, sending Canada to Los Angeles for a last-32 game against South Africa on Sunday. Marsch had indicated Alphonso Davies could make his first appearance of the tournament, but the Bayern Munich defender did not play.
