Supreme Court approval falls to record low 33% in Gallup poll

What's new: Republican approval dropped to 58% from 79% in September, while overall disapproval rose to a record 61%.

Americans' approval of the U.S. Supreme Court has fallen to a record low 33%, according to a new Gallup poll, with 61% disapproving of the court's performance. The prior low was 39% in July 2025. Gallup said the sharpest change came from Republicans, whose approval fell to 58% from 79% in September, the lowest level for that group in nearly three years. The survey of 1,200 adults was conducted by telephone from July 1 to July 19 and has a 4-point margin of error. Gallup said rulings against President Donald Trump this term, including decisions on tariffs and birthright citizenship, may have weighed on Republican views more than decisions that favored Trump and the GOP.
