Starting in July, Ojol Drivers to Get at Least 92% of Fares
UMKM Minister Maman Abdurrahman said he checked 19 ojol communities and that this week’s order decline was likely tied to school holidays.
Starting in early July 2026, online motorcycle taxi drivers will receive at least 92% of trip fares after Gojek and Grab agreed to an 8% service fee. The arrangement follows Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on Protection for Online Transport Workers. UMKM Minister Maman Abdurrahman said drivers’ income has not fallen since the new rule took effect. He said he had checked 19 ojol communities and associations from various regions, and most drivers said the policy has helped. If income has weakened in the past week, he said, the cause is more likely school holidays and university breaks, which have depressed demand. A driver partner named Reza also said the benefits of the 8% policy are already being felt on the ground and hoped ojol’s UMKM status would be followed by concrete programs such as stimulus and empowerment.
