SpaceX raises $75 billion in record IPO at $1.7 trillion value

What's next: Trading begins Friday, with index access expected within three weeks and demand from individual investors already topping $70 billion.

SpaceX raised about $75 billion in a record initial public offering that valued Elon Musk’s rocket and satellite company at roughly $1.7 trillion, setting it up to become the world’s most valuable publicly traded company when trading starts Friday. The offering covered more than 555 million shares. PBS reported individual investors alone had already requested more than $70 billion of stock. The company generated about $18 billion in revenue last year and posted an operating loss of about $4.2 billion, underscoring that investors are betting on future growth tied to launches, Starlink and longer-term ambitions including space-based infrastructure for artificial intelligence.
