South Carolina Republicans voted Tuesday in a special primary to choose a new U.S. Senate nominee after the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham left the party without a candidate for November. The crowded field includes Sen. Darline Graham, who is serving the final months of her brother’s term, along with Reps. Ralph Norman and Russell Fry, former Gov. Mark Sanford and business owner Mark Lynch. President Donald Trump backed Darline Graham, but some GOP voters told NPR they were choosing other candidates. The winner will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews, a Charleston pediatrician who previously ran against Rep. Nancy Mace in 2022.
