Smoke in KPK’s Merah Putih Building basement not a fire

KPK said the smoke seen in the basement of Gedung Merah Putih in South Jakarta on Saturday (29/8) did not come from a fire. The smoke appeared in the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery room after fogging activity in the building area was detected by the fire suppression system, which then activated automatically. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the building was safe and under control. According to KPK, firefighters arrived at around 11.32 WIB and the response was completed at 12.05 WIB. Separately, Sudin Gulkarmat Jakarta Selatan had earlier deployed three units with 14 personnel to the site on Jalan Kuningan Persada, Setiabudi, after receiving a report at 11.25 WIB. Officers then removed the smoke from the basement area.
