A Singapore court sentenced Hazel Phang Fong Yen, 67, to four months in jail after she admitted assaulting her domestic worker, Myanmar national Man Sian Hoih Cing, over household chores in 2022. The abuse included slaps, a punch to the eye and scratches to the face, neck and chest that drew blood. The victim, now 27, was later taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where doctors documented blunt trauma to one eye, a bruised face and multiple abrasions. The case surfaced after a routine welfare call from the Centre for Domestic Employees in December 2022 led to a police report. Phang was also ordered to pay S$4,440 in compensation.
