Singapore sets July 9 inquest for woman, 25, found dead in Geylang hotel

What's new: Charges tied to 101 etomidate-laced vape pods were terminated after her death, and police said foul play is not suspected.

Singapore will hold a coroner’s inquiry on July 9 into the death of Low Hui Mei, a 25-year-old woman who was found dead on May 16 in a hotel room along Lorong 8 Geylang. Police said preliminary findings do not point to foul play, though investigations are continuing. Low had been facing seven charges after her October 2025 arrest at King George’s Avenue, where officers seized 11 e-vaporisers and 101 pods that the Health Sciences Authority later found contained etomidate. Her lawyer, S.S. Dhillon, told The Straits Times that the death was attributed to cardiopulmonary failure. Low had been due in court on June 16, but the case was formally ended after her death.
