Singapore sets 11 public holidays for 2027, including 5 long weekends

What's new: Chinese New Year falls on a Sunday, making Feb. 8 a day off, while Labor Day and Christmas land on Saturdays.

Singapore will have 11 public holidays in 2027, with five creating long weekends after the Ministry of Manpower published next year's calendar on Thursday. New Year's Day and Good Friday fall on Fridays, while Hari Raya Haji and National Day fall on Mondays. Chinese New Year runs on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, a Saturday and Sunday, so the following Monday, Feb. 8, will also be a public holiday. Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on a Wednesday, while Vesak Day and Deepavali fall on Thursdays. Labor Day and Christmas Day both land on Saturdays. The ministry said employers and workers can agree to swap a public holiday for another working day. Staff required to work on a public holiday are entitled to extra pay, with some employers also able to offer time off in lieu.
