Singapore plans 6,000-plus homes for Toa Payoh West over 10 years
What's new: The first 1,600-flat project near Caldecott MRT goes on sale in November, with senior apartments opening to people age 55 and up.
Singapore will build more than 6,000 new homes in Toa Payoh West over the next decade, adding a new shopping mall, parks and other amenities around Caldecott MRT station as part of a wider renewal plan for one of the city-state's oldest public housing towns. The first project, Toa Payoh Hillside, will launch in the November 2026 Build-to-Order exercise with about 1,600 flats across five blocks. The development includes 590 two-room Flexi flats, 580 four-room flats, about 230 public rental flats and 260 Community Care Apartments, the first in Toa Payoh. Authorities are also studying plans for a school in the area. From the November sales exercise, eligibility for Community Care Apartments will drop from age 65 to 55.
