Singapore mosque employee charged over S$14,000 in donation box theft

A 42-year-old employee of Al-Mawaddah Mosque in Singapore has been charged with criminal breach of trust after prosecutors accused him of taking more than S$14,000 from the mosque’s donation boxes. Mohamed Muhaimin Mohamed Sulaiman, a senior finance executive at the Sengkang mosque on Compassvale Bow, allegedly misappropriated the money on at least 15 occasions between Feb. 6 and May 15, according to court details reported Aug. 12. Police said the funds had been entrusted to him through his job. The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, or MUIS, said the mosque reviewed CCTV footage, filed a police report and suspended him after discovering the matter.
