Singapore GovTech cuts 93 jobs as 7%-9% overhaul starts

What's new: Officials said the restructuring is limited to GovTech, with 110 workers moving into retraining apprenticeships and 102 kept in place.

Singapore’s Government Technology Agency has cut 93 jobs in the first phase of a two-year workforce overhaul expected to affect 7% to 9% of its roughly 3,900 employees. GovTech said 302 workers in its headquarters and across six public agencies were affected in the first phase: 102 stayed in their current roles, 110 moved into apprenticeships for new roles, and 93 will leave. The Public Service Division said the move is not part of a wider restructuring across Singapore’s public service. GovTech chairman Chng Kai Fong said the agency is shifting from managing vendor-led projects to owning and running products in-house so it can respond faster to national needs. Affected staff will receive financial support, career coaching and job-matching help.
