Singapore gives top civilian honor to Menon, Teo in 2026 awards

Singapore conferred its highest civilian honor, the Order of Temasek (With Distinction), on Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon and former Council of Presidential Advisers chairman Eddie Teo in the 2026 National Day Awards. They led a list of 7,491 recipients, including 6,624 civilian awardees and 867 military personnel. Menon, 62, has served as chief justice since November 2012 and is due to step down on Feb. 26, 2027. During his tenure, the judiciary expanded digital services, set up the Appellate Division of the High Court and advanced a therapeutic justice model in the Family Justice Courts and Youth Courts. Teo, 79, retired as CPA chairman in June 2026 after decades in Singapore's public service, including senior roles in defense, the Prime Minister's Office and the Public Service Commission.
