Singapore expands parenthood review to work-life balance, school stress
What's next: The workgroup's full report is due in early 2027 as Singapore grapples with a record-low 0.87 fertility rate.
Singapore's marriage and parenthood review will next tackle work-life balance, education stress, workplace norms, fertility and maternal health, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Indranee Rajah said Friday. The review follows a first set of family-support measures that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong rolled out at the National Day Rally, including enhanced childcare leave, cheaper childcare and more financial help for parents. The Marriage and Parenthood Reset Workgroup was launched in February as the city-state's resident total fertility rate fell to a record low of 0.87 in 2025, down from 0.97 in 2024. Its full report is expected in early 2027.
