Singapore charges Amos Yee over race posts, child-sex comments

What's next: He faces up to 3 years in jail on the racial disharmony count and a separate fine for indecent communications.

Amos Yee, 27, is due in a Singapore court on Wednesday over online posts that police said promoted racial disharmony and made indecent statements about children. Investigators said Yee published blog posts on April 7 and April 11 and posted a video on X on May 27 alleging that Malay-Muslim and Indian communities were discriminated against by the Chinese majority and urging protests against the government. Police also cited a June 30 blog post in which Yee argued that children could consent to sexual acts and called for age-of-consent laws to be scrapped. Authorities said X complied with an Aug. 18 disabling order removing the video, while Yee was directed to take down blog posts. He is already facing separate enlistment-related charges.
