Singapore bystander disarms knife-wielding man, 34, in Clementi

A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital after a knife incident in Clementi on Monday in which a 56-year-old member of the public disarmed him before police arrived. Police said officers responding to a call at about 12:20 p.m. at Block 441B Clementi Avenue 3 found the man conscious with injuries believed to be self-inflicted. He was taken to hospital for treatment, while the bystander who grabbed the knife was also sent to hospital as a precaution despite not being hurt. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said one person was taken to National University Hospital and another to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Witnesses told local media the man had stabbed himself repeatedly. Police investigations are ongoing.
