Singapore adds 3 firms to haze probe, plans expert panel

What's new: The government will require targeted companies to hire outside investigators and submit audits tracing ownership and supply chains.

Singapore expanded its crackdown on companies linked to the regional haze, adding three Indonesia-based firms to legal notices already issued under its Transboundary Haze Pollution Act and later moving to set up a specialist expert panel to support investigations. The newly named companies were Buana Megatama Jaya, Mananjung Hayak and Baratama Putra Perkasa, bringing the total to 10. The Ministry of Law said the panel will include law, audit and investigative firms able to carry out cross-border inquiries, trace corporate ties and examine supply chains. Davinder Singh Chambers was appointed to help coordinate the work. Authorities said companies identified by the government will have to cooperate fully and provide access to relevant information.
