Silmy Karim Goes to KPK After OTT on WNA Stay Permits

KPK has secured 17 people, including eight civil servants and nine intermediaries in KITAS-KITAP processing.

Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim went to the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Wednesday night, June 3, for questioning after a sting operation within the Directorate General of Immigration. He arrived at about 10:33 p.m. WIB and said only that he was finishing an agenda before coming to KPK. Earlier, KPK had searched for Silmy and said his last detected location was in Jakarta. The sting is tied to suspected corruption in the processing of foreign nationals' stay permits, namely KITAS and KITAP, at the Class I Non-TPI West Jakarta Immigration Office. KPK said it has secured 17 people, consisting of eight state officials or civil servants and nine private parties suspected of acting as intermediaries. Among those secured were Ronald Arman Abdullah, Jaya Saputra, and Saffar Muhammad Godam.
