Scottish World Cup fans drain Boston beer taps, forcing 4 deliveries

What's new: Boston Beer said supporters bought more than 4,000 pints in four days, about four times a typical holiday stretch.

Scottish soccer fans in Boston for the 2026 FIFA World Cup drank enough beer to empty taps at local bars and trigger extra shipments over the weekend. Boston Beer Co. said its downtown Samuel Adams taproom ran out of Boston Lager after supporters from Scotland's "Tartan Army" bought more than 4,000 pints from Thursday through Sunday, nearly 90 kegs in all. The company said it had to send four emergency deliveries. Hennessy's Bar also ran out of beer after sales surged to roughly triple its usual St. Patrick's Day business, while Federal Wine & Spirits saw some beer stocks wiped out in a day. Scotland beat Haiti 1-0 on Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
