SBY Undergoes Health Check in US, Misses MPR Session and RI Day
The former president is expected to remain in the United States through late August, missing the Aug. 14-17 state events.
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will not attend the MPR RI Annual Session on Aug. 14 or the 81st Independence Day ceremony at Istana Merdeka because he is undergoing a health examination in the United States. Demokrat deputy chairman Benny K Harman said SBY is in the US for a check-up and is expected to return only after the end of August 2026.
This year's MPR Annual Session is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14, at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta. MPR deputy chairman Eddy Soeparno earlier said all former presidents and vice presidents would be invited, with the invitations delivered directly by MPR leaders as a mark of respect. The session will also start earlier so all events can finish before Friday prayers.
