Saudi Arabia delays flagship FII summit to 2027 after attacks
Why it matters: The move disrupts a key showcase for Riyadh's diversification drive after a Riyadh airport strike killed 12 and injured more than 300.
Saudi Arabia pushed its annual Future Investment Initiative conference into 2027 after Houthi missile and drone attacks intensified across the kingdom. The summit had been set for Oct. 26-29 in Riyadh and is one of the kingdom's main platforms for courting global investors. Organizers said new 2027 dates would be released soon. The postponement follows an Oct. 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that left at least 12 people dead and more than 300 injured. The conference, launched by the Public Investment Fund in 2017, has been central to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's effort to diversify the economy beyond oil. Scheduled speakers included Jamie Dimon, David Solomon, Stephen Schwarzman, Larry Fink and Jane Fraser.
