Russian ballistic missiles hit Kyiv and other cities, 7 dead

The attacks also killed residents near Kryvyi Rih and in Poltava, hours after Zelensky warned of a large-scale strike.

Russia launched ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv and several other cities in Ukraine early Thursday, killing at least seven people. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to head immediately to shelters as air raid sirens sounded in the capital. In Kyiv, debris from intercepted missiles sparked fires in the Sviatoshynskyi district and a non-residential area in Obolonskyi, leaving one person dead. Local officials also reported six deaths after a missile hit a house in a village near Kryvyi Rih, while eight people were wounded, including two children. The Poltava city government reported one more death. Explosions were also heard in Lviv. The attacks came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Moscow was preparing a large-scale strike.
