Russia seeks Pavel Durov's arrest over Telegram terrorism case

Russia's Federal Security Service has charged Telegram founder Pavel Durov with facilitating terrorism and issued an international arrest warrant through Interpol. The FSB said the case centers on Telegram's alleged failure to remove channels, chats and bots that it claims were used by Ukrainian intelligence services, terrorists and extremist groups to plan sabotage, terrorism, mass killings and cyber fraud inside Russia. Durov, who was born in Russia but has long lived abroad, holds French and United Arab Emirates citizenship. Telegram has more than 1 billion users and remains a major communications platform in Russia, where authorities have repeatedly tried to curb the app as Moscow tightens control over the internet.
