Rice inflation in Q3 2026 falls to 3.73%, lowest in 4 years
CBP stock is said to stand at 4.5 million tons, with 2.88 million tons distributed through Oct. 28 and close to 4 million tons by year-end.
Indonesia's annual rice inflation at the end of the third quarter of 2026 fell to 3.73 percent, the lowest level in four years. Badan Pangan Nasional said the pace was far below September 2023, when it reached 18.44 percent, then eased to 5.91 percent in 2024 and 4.06 percent in 2025. Andi Amran Sulaiman, head of Bapanas and also Minister of Agriculture, said the stability was supported by strong government rice reserves and distribution to the public. The current CBP stock is said to have reached 4.5 million tons. Distribution through Perum Bulog from January to Oct. 28, 2026, has reached 2.88 million tons, including 1.63 million tons of rice food aid for 33.24 million beneficiary families. The government also said it did not import medium rice, only special rice such as basmati.
