Thousands Pack Monas for National Zikir for Indonesia's 81st Day
The Religious Affairs Ministry estimated about 100,000 people attended, with 19 parking zones and traffic changes until 21.30 WIB.
Thousands of people packed the Monumen Nasional area in Central Jakarta on Saturday (1/8) to join the National Zikir and Prayer in observance of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The Religious Affairs Ministry estimated attendance at about 100,000. Participants came from various regions, including a bus group from Tasikmalaya, and were directed through security checks on the north and south sides of Monas. At the site, participants received souvenirs from the Presidential Palace, including prayer mats and prayer equipment, and those unable to enter the main area were given LED screens in the outer area. The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency prepared 19 parking zones with capacity for 3,755 cars and 5,105 motorcycles, while traffic engineering was applied situationally from 17.00-21.30 WIB.
