Reuters/Ipsos poll: U.S. support for war with Iran falls
New: Only one-third of Americans back the war, while 69% say President Donald Trump has not clarified the conflict's goal.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Monday (27/7) showed U.S. public support for the war against Iran falling to its lowest level since the early stage of the conflict over the past five months. Only one in three respondents supported the military campaign. The survey, conducted July 24-26, also found 69% of respondents, including four in 10 Republican voters, said U.S. President Donald Trump had not clearly explained the purpose of the military involvement. Public support has stayed below 40% since the U.S. and Israel launched a joint attack on 28 February. At the same time, Trump said he had paused the attacks to allow room for negotiations, but left open the possibility of resuming them if talks with Iran fail. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last week also requested additional funding after the war's cost was said to have reached US$37.5 billion.
