Raul Castro resurfaces in Havana after US murder indictment

Raul Castro appeared at an Interior Ministry celebration in Havana, Cuban state television showed, marking his first public appearance since US prosecutors charged him last month with murder in the 1996 shootdown of planes operated by a Cuban exile group. The Trump administration alleges Castro, then Cuba's defense minister, ordered Cuban military jets to bring down the aircraft. Castro turned 95 on June 4 and had last been seen publicly during May 1 events in Havana. His reappearance comes as Washington intensifies pressure on Cuba's communist government.
