Rangers lose Danny Rohl to Salzburg after 8 months in charge

What's next: Hearts manager Derek McInnes is widely expected to replace Rohl as Rangers seek a third coach in 12 months.

Rangers have parted with head coach Danny Rohl, who is leaving Ibrox after eight months to take over at Red Bull Salzburg. The 37-year-old German departs with two years left on his deal after Rangers and Salzburg agreed compensation, with staff members Sascha Lense and Tristan Steiner also leaving. Rohl took over in October after Russell Martin and briefly pushed Rangers into a three-way Scottish title race, but the team lost four straight post-split games and finished third without a trophy. Salzburg also finished third in Austria last season, their worst placing in two decades. Rangers said an update on the vacant job will follow, with Hearts boss Derek McInnes expected to emerge as the leading replacement.
