PU minister cancels US trip, shifts focus to Sumatera
The cancellation follows public criticism after a New York delegation letter listed the minister's wife and child.
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has canceled a work trip to New York, United States, on 13-19 July 2026 and opted to prioritize disaster response in Sumatera. Dody said the PU Ministry's focus now is to speed up recovery of damaged infrastructure so public activity can return to normal. The planned trip had drawn scrutiny after a delegation letter for the High-Level Meeting on The Midterm Review of The New Urban Agenda leaked to the public. The document listed Dody's wife, Irma Hermawati, and child, Aurelia Tsabitha Meidirama. PU Ministry Secretary General Apri Artoto explained that the family members were included for visa administration on instructions from the Foreign Ministry and were not funded by the APBN.
