PSI will not block calls to impeach Gibran over diploma
PSI cites Joko Widodo's guidance that any political steps on Gibran must remain within the constitution.
PSI said it will not block parties pushing for the impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the DPR RI over the controversy surrounding his high school diploma. PSI DPP Political Affairs Chairman Bestari Barus said the party's stance follows the guidance of 7th President of Indonesia Joko Widodo that any response to political developments must still refer to the constitution. Bestari said PSI is only stressing that any effort must proceed in line with constitutional provisions. He added that if the move does not align with the constitution, it will be rejected. The remarks came amid calls from a number of groups for the DPR to use its inquiry right to follow up on the controversy.
