Prosecutors drop Harvey Weinstein rape charge after 3 deadlocked trials

What's next: Manhattan prosecutors asked the court to impose a 20-year sentence in Weinstein's separate New York sex assault case.

Manhattan prosecutors dropped the remaining New York rape charge against Harvey Weinstein after accuser Jessica Mann said she did not want to testify in what would have been a fourth trial. The charge stemmed from Mann's allegation that Weinstein raped her in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013. The case had already gone through three trials: Weinstein's 2020 conviction was overturned in 2024, and juries in 2025 and again in May 2026 failed to reach a unanimous verdict on Mann's count. District Attorney Alvin Bragg said the office still believed Mann, but another trial would be too taxing. Weinstein still faces sentencing for his conviction for sexually assaulting Miriam Haley, and prosecutors recommended a 20-year prison term.
