Preparations for NU's 35th congress reach 90%, 3,300 targeted
The top NU forum is scheduled for Aug. 27-30, 2026, at Pesantren Tambakberas in Jombang.
Preparations for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama congress are said to be nearly complete, with more than 90 percent of prospective participants already holding letters of participation. PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf said the congress is expected to draw about 3,300 participants from regional and branch boards. He denied reports that many participants have not yet received the letters. According to him, any documents still unsigned are due to incomplete administrative requirements from regional or branch offices. The committee, he said, will help complete those files. Beyond administration, technical readiness is also said to be nearly finished, including accommodation and plenary needs. The 35th NU congress will be held on Aug. 27-30, 2026, at Pondok Pesantren Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, to review the leadership and elect the Rais Aam and PBNU chairman.
