Prabowo visits Flores quake victims in Nagekeo; death toll 103
BNPB raised the injured toll to 1,666, with Manggarai Timur recording the highest number of casualties.
President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (26/8) visited residents affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Nagekeo regency, East Nusa Tenggara, after arriving at Komodo International Airport in Labuan Bajo. In Nagekeo, he led a coordination meeting at the East Nusa Tenggara disaster command post at Kodam IX/Udayana with Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit, and East Nusa Tenggara Governor Melki Laka Lena. BNPB said as of Tuesday (25/8) the death toll had risen to 103, spread across Manggarai, Manggarai Timur, Nagekeo, Sikka, Ngada, Ende, and Manggarai Barat. The number of injured was recorded at 1.666 people. The government has also sent logistics, field hospitals, and health services support to affected areas in Flores.
