Prabowo receives Papua artifacts from FBI director at Kertanegara
The Dani, Asmat and Sentani Lake artifacts will be displayed at Museum Nasional after being repatriated from the US.
President Prabowo Subianto met with Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel at his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night, July 22, 2026. During the meeting, Patel handed over Indonesian cultural artifacts that had previously been smuggled illegally to the United States. Culture Minister Fadli Zon said the return was part of a repatriation cooperation between the Indonesian government and the FBI. The artifacts came from Papua and include cultural heritage items from the Dani and Asmat tribes and from the Sentani Lake area. Prabowo was accompanied by BIN chief M. Herindra and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. Fadli said the items are of high historical value and will be exhibited at Museum Nasional.
