Prabowo sets 2026 economic growth target at 6 percent

New: first-half 2026 growth reached 5.45 percent, the highest in 13 years, with inflation contained and investment at Rp1.010 trillion.

President Prabowo Subianto set a target for Indonesia's economy to grow 6 percent by the end of 2026. In a speech at the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI in Jakarta on Friday (14/8), he based that optimism on first-half 2026 economic growth of 5.45 percent and continued gains in investment. According to Badan Pusat Statistik data, the first-half result was the highest in 13 years. Prabowo also said the economy expanded 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026, while inflation remained contained and domestic demand stayed strong. On investment, realization in the first half of 2026 reached Rp1.010 trillion and created more than 1.4 million jobs. He said the state budget also supported purchasing power, public services and economic activity amid global pressure from energy prices, high interest rates and geopolitical tensions.
