Prabowo inaugurates 5 dams from Lombok Barat, including Meninting
The new irrigation network is targeted to support 1,559 hectares, supply 150 liters per second of raw water, and cut flood risk in Lombok Barat.
President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (10/7) inaugurated five dams, with the main ceremony held at Meninting Dam in Lombok Barat Regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Along with Meninting, the dams symbolically inaugurated were Keureuto Dam in Aceh, Rukoh in Aceh, Jlantah in Jawa Tengah, and Sidan in Bali. The government said the projects are intended to strengthen water, food and energy security. Meninting Dam has been under construction since 2020 with a budget of about Rp 1,4 trillion. The infrastructure is said to provide irrigation for 1,559 hectares of farmland, supply 150 liters per second of raw water, generate 0,8 megawatt of microhydro power, and reduce flood risk in Lombok Barat by about 20 percent.
